I may have posted this before I really got into this cemetery hunting But to be
sure, here it is:
This is the old "Strickler Cem." it is located on the river hill about 1 mile from the Hickory Square
Church. To find it take RT 119 North out of Connellsville, PA. Just as you are leaving town you
will see a Advance Auto parts store on right, just before it you
turn left across a small bridge.
You are headed to Broadford. Stay on this road, you will go down a steep hill with several
curves. At the bottom you will cross railroad tracks. The main road turns to right you
will see a road to the left going up a hill. Turn left up hill, about 3/10 af a mile you
will see a road to left (Valley Road) turn on to it. Go abt. 2/10 mile until you see a
field on left, on a curve. Stop walk up bank to field, on top of hill to right you will see
a point of woods running out into the field about 1/2 mile away. This is where the cemetery
is. Walk around the edge of field to get to it.

Finally found the "Liston cemetery" the other day. To get there go to Dunbar, PA,
take the road toward Ohiopyle on the Dunbar Ohiopyle Rd. Just as you leave Dunbar the road
turns to the right don't miss it. Stay on this road for abt. 4 miles. You will start up a
steep hill with a sharp left curve at bottom. When you get to a sharp right curve there
is a road going straight (Kingan Hill Rd). Go up it for 2 1/10 miles, the main road
goes straight BUT you want to turn right. Go down the hill 3/10 mile the main road turns
left you will turn right cross the pipeline. Go 4/10 mile to a small State Game Land
parking lot. From there you will have to walk about 3/4 mile. You will see a old
untraveled road going up the hill go up it until you see a ATV trail going to the right
about 200 yards after you get to top of hill. Go up it until you come to a large tree that has
fallen across the trail. Walk to the right to top of rise you should be able to see tops
of one of the stones. Be prepared for briars as it is very thick and you won't see it more
than 100 feet away. As this cemetery is over grown with blackberry and green briars
NOW here is what I found.

Most fo these cemeteries are found by running across them while hunting, and by asking other hunters.
The ones in Biddwell were told to me by a man who cuts timber. and spends alot of time in the
woods. I still have several more to find but it is getting hard with the leaves But will keep
at it as long as I can. I have several more to type up.
Good luck to all,

This cemetery is (one of the few all Negro Cemeteries in the country), I was told by the lady

sometime ago. I was told later that there were more back in woods So I went to look. To Get there take

it Walk back about 125 yards. Next to road William Ford

This Cemetery is known as the "Thorpe Cemetery". I was told To get there go to Ohiopyle
and take the road to Kentuck Knob Campground of Ohiopyle State Park. When you get to
Kentuck Road go straight, Down the hill. Go up the next hill, when you get to top the
road will turn right and a narrower road goes straight. Go straight, Cemetery is on
right about 300 yards.

This is the OLD EUTSEY CEM I talked with the land owner Wade
Eutsey, he said the land has been in the Eutsey family since it was deeded to his gg grandfather
for payment for service in the Revolutionary War. He has the deed. He also said that
family story has it that there are 19 unmarked graves there. One is a Indian who lived near
and was friends with the Eutsey family. To get there go to White, Pa. Take road

This Cemetery is rather large, but off the beaten path on a dirt road. I would think that some
that are buried here came from poor families as some markers are just slabs of cement with
lettering painted on. Some markers are recent and fancy. To get there go to Normalville, PA.
Go toward Ohiopyle, just as you leave Normalville you will turn left on RT 653. Go down
hill cross bridge and turn left. Go until you come a'' Y'' you will bear right. Shortly
you will cross a small bridge. As soon as you cross bridge turn right on to Brown Rd. The
road splits as soon as you get on it, take the road to the left. Go until you see a white
mobile home on right, turn left on Hillview Rd. When you get to top of hill you will see
cemetery on right.

Have another cemetery for you. It is just out of the village of Melcroft, PA. Take RT 711
through Melcroft going toward Jones Mill, PA. Just as you go through the village look to
the left for a mobile home park setting on the hill. Turn into the park the cemetery is on
up the hill behind the park. It is rather large.

Was talking to a man today, told him I was looking for old family cemeteries. He told me
where 3 were that I didn't know about. (Will look for them). And that there was one next to
Hisson's yard. Contacted son, it is THE BOYD CEM and is in Bullskin Twp.
The cemetery is in a brush filled strip between his and neighbors house. We used
brush cutters to find what we did but there could be more as ALL stones are on the ground.
Will go back this winter to see if there are more. To get there take RT 119 North out of
Connellsville, PA Across from entrance to Green Ridge Cem. turn on to Moyer Rd. go 3/10 mile
turn right on North Bellview Rd. Go 1 2/10 mile turn left on to Shoemaker Rd. Go to house
on corner. Cemetery is between it and house on right.
To the memory of
Aroline BOYD
died May 25, 1825
aged 85 years( one stone)
William BOYD Feb. 25, 1812 age 60 years
Ann BOYD consort of William BOYD Oct. 8, 1796 in 40th year.

Regarding the recent Ken O'Neal find of a Boyd Cemetery-- I suspect the William Boyd found
there was my kin William Boyd (4g grandfather) I have listed as born 1752 in Ireland, came to
Shenandoah Valley, VA, and then settled near Connellsville, PA. One source states his father
was killed by Indians in the Potomac River 13 Apr 1757. William was married to Ann Jack born
9 Oct 1757 in Berkeley, VA and died 8 Oct 1796/7 in Greene Co, PA.If anyone has more
connections or information here, please contact me. Many thanks to Ken O'Neal for doing this
vital "research and recovery."

It's too wet to be running in the woods so I will catch up on posting. I might have posted
the next two the first of the year, so for the ones who might have missed them, here they are.
This is the Dickerson Cem. To find it take RT 201 out of
Connellsville, Pa towards Vanderbilt. As you get to Vanderbilt, 01 makes a sharp left at
a intersection with Rt 819, turn right toward DAWSON. Go 2/10 mile the road makes a sharp
left, turn RIGHT on the street on turn. There is a house setting back from the street on the
right side The cemetery is behind and a little to the left. If you pull in the drive and
ask they will give permission to look at cem. Ellis has a lot of info. on Joshua His stone reads:
In Memory of Joshua Dickerson who departed this life Oct. 10, 1827 in his 88th year
Joshua Dickerson departed this life Oct. 1, 1834 in his 22nd year
Samuel Dickerson departed this life Oct. 22 1828 in his 4th year
One stone broken can read Mc Burney on top below
Sarah in 39th year
Maria W. dau. of J.& S. died 1-18-1857 age 16
Eliza Jane wife of ? can't read age 25 years
In memory of Elanor Dougan consort of Robert Dougan who departed this life July 1, 1838
aged 23 years 6 mo.
her first son Thomas Dougan is in turned on the left.
This stone is badly weathered as near as I can see it reads
Henry Dickerson June 17, 1827 age 50 years
All that can be read on this stone is Samuel ---
Hope someone finds a ancestor
Good luck

UN NAMED CEMETERY CONNELLSVILLE TWP

Found a old cemetery just out of Connellsville, PA It is in very bad shape with many stones
gone or buried in dirt. What I did find were broken. 8-10 bases
but no stones and sunken places
No markers. Stones I did find were on the ground. To find it take 119 North out of
Connellsville, just after you pass the Crawford Ave. exit, North of town, turn right on
Buttermore Rd. Thr road turns back toward Connellsville. There is a 50 foot ledge on left,
cemetery is on top of it. I will go back this winter to see if I can find more stones, but
this is what I did find.
Lodicy w/o John MARTIN ( bottom part broken off)
Catherine w/o J.M. STRAUCH 9-14-1887?
HORRICKS 10-11-1813 age 43 ( corner broken off first name gone )
Bottom part of stone only markings ( died 3-3-1871 )
I know this isn't much, but it might help someone.
Good luck

Joanne Hill Grove is located on Snyder St Connellsville, Pa. To get to it Follow East Crawford
Ave.Up the hill, just before you get to top , turn right on Snyder St. At the stop
light you will see it on left. The records were lost sometime ago. BUT existing markers
have been transcribed. They can be found at the Carnegie Free Library S. Pittsburgh St
phone ( 724 ) 628-1380. I have grandparents, 2 sets of g grandparents and several
aunt & uncles, also a infant brother and 2 infant cousins buried there. The infants did not
have markers and are not on list (They are buried on my grandparents lot) I recently
found my g grandmother's obit. It said she was buried at Hill Grove in 1919, BUT she is not
on list.( The others ARE listed and I have found their stones.) I don't know if she had no stone
or it was missed when it was transcribed. It is a rather large cemetery on the side of a hill.
Hope this is of some help to you.
Good luck
Ken

EAST LIBERTY PRESBYTERIAN CEMETERY in VANDERBILT, PA
This cemetery has many markers that are broken and piled on top of each other. The caretaker is
apparently using rock salt to kill the grass around the stones so that he won't have to trim.
It does kill the grass BUT causes damage to the stones. There are MANY, MANY surnames To
find the cemetery go to Vanderbilt, PA Take RT 201 toward RT 51. The Church and cemetery are
just before you make the last turn leaving Vanderbilt on the right.
